10 WAYS TO INCREASE TRAFFIC TO YOUR WEBSITE

One of the suspicions of any website owner is traffic. We are all, to a greater or lesser extent, aware of Google Analytics and we check the different metrics more or less frequently. And for these to improve it is important that our visitors increase. In this article we show you some tips to increase traffic to your website.

There are various means by which a website obtains traffic, either by having different words positioned on page 1, social networks, links on other pages… All this that sounds so good is not easy to achieve if you do not work in various areas and in the correct way.

1. OPTIMIZE YOUR WEB PAGES FOR SEO

The ideal is to try to improve the traffic of our website for each of its pages. However, depending on the structure and extension of our website, this can be very laborious, so our recommendation is to start with the most important commercial landing pages. Those to which we want our visitors to go to close a conversion.

In order for traffic to reach those pages, it is essential to work on SEO and do it properly.

When you start designing your pages, you should keep in mind that the users’ journey to discover your website begins to a large extent in a search engine. Try to predict what they will type in Google, do some research and find out the best keywords to use on your pages and optimize based on them. Check your metadata, your headers, texts and images and of course try to capture the visitor’s attention once they reach your page to direct them towards the conversion elements.

If you also create links on other websites and support everything with good dissemination on social networks, the boost will be even greater.

2. BE AWARE OF LATENT SEMANTIC INDEXING

Latent semantic indexing is a method that Google uses to establish relationships between the meanings of words in texts. It is an advanced indexing method that will analyze the relationship between the main terms of your content to determine its relevance.

Although it is a very good algorithm, Google can still make mistakes in its analysis if your texts are misspelled or the context is not clear. Help Google better understand your website by using a varied vocabulary, using synonyms and enriching your texts with variations and different but semantically related phrases and expressions.

With the use of more synonyms and terms related to your keywords, you will get more terms positioned at the top of Google and therefore increase more visits to your website.

3. STRUCTURE THE PAGES OF YOUR SITE EFFICIENTLY

Links are the one-way paths that lead traffic from one website to another. If you want to multiply your profits you should try to control the flow of traffic to the most relevant pages for you in the most efficient way possible. For that, design an internal link structure organized so that all your important pages are accessible and receive enough visits.

Create a tree structure by well defining the hierarchy of the different pages of your website based on their importance.

Try to get users to those relevant pages in no more than 2-3 clicks.

This will not increase the traffic of the website, but it will take advantage of what comes to you and that is why we have included it in our recommendations.

4. USE KEYWORD SEARCH TOOLS TO IMPROVE YOUR SEO

We have already commented before that SEO is possibly the main source of new traffic to any website. And the way for that traffic to arrive is from the keywords.

Many inexperienced people create their keyword lists based on their perception or what they believe to be the most searched. If we really want to position ourselves well, we must rely on real and reliable data and for this it is necessary that we do a keyword study based on reliable SEO tools.

Find new keywords, analyze their search volume, study your competition and base your articles on them.

5. USE STRUCTURED DATA ON YOUR WEBSITE

Have you noticed when you do a search on Google that websites with more information than usual appear in the results? For example, sometimes we see star ratings, other times phone numbers, addresses, or other details. This is thanks to structured data. Having these types of additions will make your website stand out in Google results and increase the number of people who click on your website.

6. OPTIMIZE YOUR IMAGES TO APPEAR IN THE RESULTS OF GOOGLE IMAGES

I don’t know if you know that images make up about thirty percent of all searches. It is therefore an aspect that you cannot miss. Optimize your images and their tags to the maximum to make them position and become a reference for Google.

You can use any type of image (graphics, photos, screenshots, gifs, infographics, etc.) but the important thing is that it is well optimized for SEO. This implies that you should use your keywords in both image titles and ALT (alternative text) tags.

Also try to weigh as little as possible, that will facilitate the loading speed of your site. Remember that Google likes them and rewards pages with fast loading.

You can give them the definitive boost if you also associate them with your posts so that they are shareable from social networks, this will help you get extra traffic from them.

7. BOOST YOUR KEYWORDS FROM PAGE 2 TO PAGE 1 OF GOOGLE

To get traffic from Google you need to be on page 1. Find out what terms you have on page 2 of Google and dedicate your effort to optimizing the website content of those urls to push them to the first page of results. It is more productive to try to promote content that you already have positioned than to start from scratch with a new article.

To find out what keywords you have on page 2 use a tool. With it you will have a list of all the terms that you have on page 2 and also what is the url of your website that appears ranked for these keywords.

If you do not have access to this type of tools, you can use Search Console to check which terms you have in an average position between 11 and 20, then do a Google search and see what your positioned url is in order to optimize it.

8. CREATE INFOGRAPHICS

We insist again with the images, and they are a fundamental piece and among them the ones that help SEO the most are without a doubt the infographics.

Google holds them in high regard, and people love to share them on their social networks. It is easy that if an infographic is good, it becomes a traffic magnet.

On the other hand, it is a source of links, if the infographic is of quality, other websites will want to publish it and link to your page as an original source. This will provide you with referral traffic directly from those sites and will also help improve your web positioning.

9. UPDATE YOUR OLD CONTENT

It is easy to have pages or articles on your website that are not receiving the traffic that you would like because they do not have a good position in Google.

A good practice is to detect those pages, adapt their content and improve it so that it is of high quality. Review the keywords you use in them, add images taking care of the aforementioned and expand their content so that they have a suitable extension. Surely that will make them grow in their rankings and revive from oblivion. It is also the perfect excuse to re-share them on social networks and add a little extra traffic.

10. TRY TO APPEAR IN THE FEATURED ANSWER BOX ON GOOGLE

Try to get Google to show snippets of your site in its answer box. This box appears at the top of searches and is a strong attraction for users, appearing in it will earn you a lot of traffic.

We have written a specific article talking about how to appear in the answer box, but in summary it would be about:

  • Optimize your articles for long tail keywords that have the highest possible search volume.
  • Write the possible question prominently in your content and answer it below in detail.
  • Use lists.
  • Add at least one image associated with the topic of the question in question.
