There is no space for discussion on Johnny Silverhand, the other lead in 2077: In live-action, Keanu Reeves must continue to play the part. His portrayal in Cyberpunk is arguably the benchmark for Hollywood actors who are significantly involved in video games. Recasting would be a distractingly serious mistake.

Finding a suitable lead actor to perform opposite Keanu Reeves is crucial, but numerous supporting roles must also be cast well. The emotional course of 2077 is largely shaped by V’s best friend Jackie Welles.

Night City was brought to life by CD Projekt RED through its inhabitants. The finest Cyberpunk movie is one that emphasizes emotional closeness and the strains that late-stage capitalism and dehumanizing violence place on relationships.
