Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

The first information on the first (and maybe only) expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been released by CD Projekt Red.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, dubbed a “spy-thriller extension” for Cyberpunk 2077, is located in a brand-new neighborhood of Night City and should give players eager to return to the universe lots more material. Even better, Johnny Silverhand actor Keanu Reeves is reportedly on board to reprise his part.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Release Date

The release of the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC expansion in 2023 has been announced by CD Projekt Red.

There are currently no exact details regarding the debut date in 2023 or even a general window or quarter to indicate when it would drop.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Price

You may have noticed that we haven’t mentioned the cost of this expansion up until this point. This is because CD Projekt Red has not yet disclosed the expansion’s price.

Even though the game’s updates have all been free thus far, CDPR has long intended for a “paid expansion,” so Phantom Liberty won’t be available for free.

Similarly, while we may go to The Witcher 3 expansion for some kind of clue — Witcher 3 Blood and Wine cost $19.99, while the Heart of Stone expansion cost $9.99 — it’s important to keep in mind that these expansions were initially released in 2015.

In a world where Sony can charge $70 for the remake of The Last of Us, DLC prices have increased.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty New DLC Features

  • Overhauling the police force completely
  • Combat between vehicles
  • The new melee gameplay loop
  • Added behaviors to the perk tree
  • Added cyberwar
  • The new cast of characters (exclusive to Phantom Liberty)
  • (Phantom Liberty Only) Developing a neighborhood in Night City
  • Johnny Silverhand, a.k.a. Keanu Reeves, will make a comeback (specific to Phantom Liberty)

It’s difficult to determine exactly what new content or features will be included with the Phantom Liberty DLC based on anything CD Projekt Red mentioned during the presentation, as most “new features” were spoken about in a more broad sense.

Due to this, it is difficult to determine whether the new features stated will be available generally in the future or only when the Phantom Liberty DLC is released.

However, for the time being, above is a brief list of the additional features that we are aware are on the way, as stated by the game’s director, Gabriel Amatangelo.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty The Only Expansion For The Game?

It appears that way so far. Phantom Liberty may be the first and final expansion for the game, according to a team statement on the teaser video.

I am extremely excited by this addition and hope that in the future more will come out since this game has a lot of promise, as one user of the game on YouTube said, as seen by GamesRadar+.

Phantom Liberty is the only planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, as the company clarified in response.

During a financial Q&A with investors in May, CDPR made a veiled reference to this. The studio’s CEO at the time proposed that the undisclosed Cyberpunk 2077 expansion would be the last project to utilize CD Projekt’s Red Engine before the Studio switches to Unreal Engine.

Members of the CDPR team had before predicted that the game would include “expansions.” Additionally, VGC’s translation of an investor Q&A in April 2020 hinted that there would be “at least” two expansions.

However, after a rocky launch, this might have altered.

Will Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC Come To PS4 & Xbox?

The Phantom Liberty DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be available on the PS4 or Xbox One.

The PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the only ones to receive the Phantom Liberty addition, according to CD Projekt Red.

This is consistent with CDPR’s decision to stop making “significant” updates to the game on older-generation consoles after the Cyberpunk 2077 1.6 Patch.

Upcoming Features of CYberpunk 2077 in Phantom Liberty

  • Flathead
  • Wall-running
  • NPCs With Actual Schedules
  • Rideable Monorail
  • New Game Plus

Flathead

The developer revealed what players could anticipate from Cyberpunk’s several story missions during the game’s first substantial demo. This included getting a job early to buy a spider bot, which is far less significant than the game has you believe. Phantom Liberty might make that difference.

The Militech MT0D12, more often known as the Flathead, plays a significant role in the early objective of “The Pickup.” Although the gameplay trailer’s depiction of the Flathead’s abilities is essentially accurate, the task originally called for the Flathead to join the player as a companion.

But that aspect of the Flathead’s significance was left on the scrap heap. It serves just as a plot device in the finished work.

This DLC would be the ideal chance to outfit them with the latest military technology as Phantom Liberty is rumored to center on V working with the US government. It would make perfect sense to finally permit players to own a Flathead given that Militech supplies the US government with weapons in the Cyberpunk universe and that the Flathead is a Militech creation.

Players will undoubtedly take part in a variety of covert operations in the newest update, and considering the Flathead’s ability to scale walls, the spider bot would be more than helpful.

Wall-running

The images of mercenaries performing unhuman acrobatic feats while wearing machine-augmented bodies come to mind when people think about cyberpunk. Fair enough, such ideas conjure up some pretty awesome images; hence, it is disappointing that the feature is absent from Cyberpunk 2077.

One of the much-hyped aspects of Cyberpunk 2077 before its release was the capacity to run on walls like a cybernetic ninja. Players were also intended to be able to transform the main character’s arms into mantis swords, so it sounded like a fantastic gameplay flourish.

However, Max Pears, level designer at CD Projekt RED, told Game Reactor that the wall-running function had to be dropped for “design reasons,” without going into further detail as to what exactly got in the way.

However, modders once more stepped up to finish what CD Projekt RED started, much like the tram system. Although modders couldn’t quite figure out how to code a real wall-running function into the game, they were able to make the Wall Hang mod, which allows users to climb walls like Spider-Man.

Is it possible that the studio will include this mechanic in the game’s largest update when it is ultimately finished? We certainly hope so.

NPCs With Actual Schedules

Some much-needed NPC AI improvements were added in patch 1.5. In addition to making opponents more intelligent, this update also improved how pedestrians respond to strikes. However, these advancements fell far short of what had been first promised.

Every NPC would live their lives in a day-and-night cycle, CD Projekt promised in a highly contentious gameplay clip from 2018. The NPCs in the launch version not only ignored schedules, but you hardly could even call them intelligent.

This was only made better with patch 1.5, which granted them survival instincts for the first time. However, it scarcely seems as though any of the NPCs are anything more than set-dressing as you run through the city, much less intelligent enough to know.

Even the most powerful supercomputer in the world would not have enough processing power to make every character, important or not, adhere to a realistic schedule given the vast number of NPCs in the game. However, the upgrades that will be included with Phantom Liberty ought to address how the time of day affects the crowds and people you come across throughout the game.

Rideable Monorail

One of the most prominent omissions from Cyberpunk 2077 is the monorail. Every modern or dystopian open-world game worth its salt includes a functioning railway, yet Cyberpunk 2077 does not. Although it was planned, CD Projekt RED omitted one. That might alter as a result of the impending expansion.

In the gaming world, devoted digital explorers have discovered innumerable train hubs, some more complete than others. It’s interesting to note that many of these locations reportedly match with current rapid travel points (or feature their unique ones).

The prevailing hypothesis holds that CD Projekt originally intended for these monorail hubs to act as dedicated fast travel stations for Cyberpunk 2077, but due to schedule constraints, switched to fast travel points. The game’s monorail may now only be used by downloading a mod that builds upon the skeleton the developers left behind.

Phantom Liberty would be a fantastic opportunity for the company to finally complete what it started if it had to abandon its monorail development to reach the launch deadline. The train system was informally repaired by modders over about a year, but the foundation is still there. Three years after launch seems like more than enough time to patch a monorail system into the expansion so that everyone on consoles can use it, too, especially considering the DLC won’t be released until 2023.

New Game Plus

Many games that feature collectible equipment allow players to replay the game using the items they obtained during their initial playtime. The video game Cyberpunk 2077 is not one of those.

Since New Game Plus is merely a mode that allows players to complete the same missions with more powerful weaponry, it initially seems like a dull addition.

However, New Game Plus also frequently ups the complexity, presents a fresh challenge, and conceals even more weaponry to acquire, making the second game worthwhile.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the previous game from CD Projekt RED, didn’t come with New Game Plus, but it was included in a patch a while later. Two years after the release of Cyberpunk 2077, New Game Plus is no longer available.

Since Phantom Liberty is an expansion that is designed to take place within the original game’s story, not before or after, it would be the perfect place to include this feature. Players could start a fresh journey with their improvements and equipment intact thanks to New Game Plus, enter the expansion without losing everything, and then take a finished save with them.

Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Features SASHA GREY as a Radio DJ

Sasha Grey, an actress, and model will play a radio DJ in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, Phantom Liberty. Grey announced on social media, stating that she will be providing the voice for Ash, a radio DJ on the game’s fictional 89.7 Growl FM station.

Sasha Grey (actual name Marina Ann Hantz) began her career in the adult entertainment industry before branching out into other fields like acting, modeling, writing, and music. Grey is presently broadcasting on Twitch.

She will collaborate with CD Projekt Red on the previously announced Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, serving as a radio host for the in-game station; it is uncertain, though, whether her likeness will also serve as the model for the character.

What will be in cyberpunk DLC?

The main character’s jacket and a shotgun from the Netflix series are among the many cosmetic things that are added to the game by the DLC, as is to be expected. Phantom Liberty is expected to be released sometime in 2023, however, there is no specific date as of yet.

Will Cyberpunk have 2 expansions?

Why Cyberpunk 2077 users won’t be receiving any DLC after the Phantom Liberty expansion is explained by a CD Projekt Red developer. Due to the effort, CD Projekt Red is devoting to Project Orion, the game’s sequel, Cyberpunk 2077 will only get one expansion, a developer there claims.

What will Phantom Liberty add?

Phantom Liberty, the sole expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, has a trailer from CD Projekt. Players are teased in the video with new characters, weaponry, and settings in addition to a brand-new standalone narrative.

Will cyberpunk Phantom liberty be free?

Even though the game’s updates have all been free thus far, CDPR has long intended for a “paid expansion,” so Phantom Liberty won’t be available for free.

Does cyberpunk Have New Game Plus 2022?

Even though the game’s updates have all been free thus far, CDPR has long intended for a “paid expansion,” so Phantom Liberty won’t be available for free.

Conclusion

CD Projekt Red has declared that the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion will be available in 2023. The first “spy-thriller” in the game will take place in a brand-new section of Night City. According to CD Projekt Red, Phantom Liberty may be the first and last expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Before the Studio changes to Unreal Engine, the Phantom Liberty DLC will be the final CDPR Red Engine-based production. Cyberpunk 2077’s creators abandoned their intentions to allow players to run up walls like Spider-Man.
